When a new health observation is opened from the New Health Reports alert, the treatment plan form will also open. This is where the vet tech or vet can create the plan for addressing the reported issue. As a Vet or Vet Tech, you can also bypass submitting a Health Observation and start a treatment plan by clicking on a record to highlight it, and then clicking on Start New Case from the Animal Search results. Learn how to perform a search.
On the New Animal Case page, select a Case Category (required) and click Start Case.
Filling out a Treatment Plan
Overview
The overview page will display information from the new health report, or it will be blank if you started a New Case from the Animal Search. You'll see the Table of Contents on the left side of the screen.
Once you fill in or edit the fields and click Save, the Attachments section will appear. Here, you can attach health reports, documentation, or images related to the case.
Observations and Assessments
Observations/Assessments is where you can record your evaluation of the animal. Vet Care is designed to accommodate all health records from rodents to non-human primates, so it may not be necessary to respond to every question on the form. The date is the only required field. You will find different fields and information beneath the Subjective, Objective, and Assessment tabs at the top.
Please Note: The response options in the drop-downs are based on the Subjective Observations dictionary setup. Only the options that are associated with the species on this case will display.
You will see different diagnosis options in the Assessment tab:
- Differential: There is more than one possibility for the diagnosis. The vet must do further evaluation to differentiate between these possibilities.
- Presumptive: There is sufficient knowledge to provide an initial diagnosis for the issue.
Plan Summary
In the Plan Summary, provide a narrative to describe what will be done to address the health issue. If you select Yes to Use Template?, the template pick list associated with the species in the Plan Templates setup list will display. Any activity included in the template plan will pre-populate on the subsequent activity pages (Medications, Procedures, Samples, etc.).
Activities
Activity pages all work similarly:
Click Add to add a new activity.
Click into a field and hit the space bar to see the whole list of available options. Alternatively, you can type in the first few letters of your criteria, which will appear in the drop-down list.
Assignment and Frequency:
- Priority: Options are Normal and Urgent. For multiple activities scheduled on the same day, the urgent activities will appear first.
- Assigned Role: Vets and Vet Techs (AHEALTH) will be able to see any activity on the calendar regardless of which role it is assigned to. Other roles such as animal care staff or researcher staff members will only see activities that are assigned to their role.
- Request Date: The start date for the activity.
- Frequency: How often the activity occurs.A time-based example is Treat every 6 hours for 24 hours.
- When: AM, PM, or anytime.
