System messages are set in the Admin area and are used to broadcast information to system users.
Welcome Message
The Welcome Message appears just below the header on your Cayuse Proposals Overview tab and on the Cayuse login page.
This message is best used for system identification and important brief notes that people will see when they log in. Longer text should be placed in one of the message locations described below.
Sign-in Message
The sign-in message appears on the Cayuse Proposals sign-in screen, just below the username and password fields:
It is most useful for communicating system information regarding scheduled events or downtime, deadlines, etc. If your instutiton uses Single Sign-on (SSO), then users will not see this message unless they have come to the direct sign-in screen. Many SSO customers place a warning on this screen informing users that they have come to the wrong place.
Overview Message
The Overview message appears on the Overview tab below the navigation links.
Since users land here after they sign in, this is a good location for general information, news, and maintenance schedules for all institutions.
Broadcast Message
This message appears when a user is already logged in. It pops up in a dialog box that has to be dismissed by the user. This is very useful for system shutdown warnings because it will get the user's attention.
The Broadcast Message can be set to re-send at a high frequency if the message is urgent. For system shutdown messages, you can send at a high frequency. The image above shows a system message set to send once every minute. Less urgent messages can be displayed at minute or hour intervals, or even only once per user.
Editing and Activating System Messages
To update any of these messages, enter the message you want into the corresponding text field and click the Update button directly below the field. Each message is updated individually, and other changes to the page are not saved at the same time, so it's best to make changes to only one message at a time.
Except the Welcome message, which is always displayed, any message can be active or inactive. The checkbox below the message's text field must be checked for a particular message to be active. To activate a message, check the box and click the Update button.
