Many disclosees will want to transfer the answers of their disclosure to a new disclosure when they need to fill one out. Autofill is available on Significant Financial Interest (SFI) objects for disclosees within their form:
The steps below must be taken to ensure autofill on the SFI is set up correctly for members of your institution.
Please note: The section name also must match on both forms in order for autofill to work correctly.
Title
Each SFI object in the Annual form needs to be given a unique name in the General > Question field. This can be done by clicking on the pencil icon in the object. That name must match the same SFI in the Research-Based Disclosure (RBD) smart form.
In the example below, the SFI object is named Significant Financial Interest in both the Annual and RBD smart form. We suggest avoiding special characters (like hyphens or symbols) in those SFI object Question titles.
Furthermore, each subquestion in the Annual FI object must match exactly with the same subquestion in the RBD form. If it does not, the autofill will not work and the user will see pink highlighted errors, as shown in the example below.
Once published, the smart forms should enable the autofill on any new disclosures. They cannot retroactively affect existing disclosures if these SFI objects were not correctly matching between the Annual and RBD forms.
For example, after publishing the correct Annual and RBD smart forms, a user completes a new Annual disclosure and fills out an SFI object. The next time that user completes an Annual or RBD disclosure, the SFI object should autofill the previously completed SFI information from the prior disclosure.
Display Rules
On the disclosure form, make sure you are using display rules to connect your SFI object to a question with a radio button or checkbox. The question should ask something similar to Do you have a Conflict of Interest? and the answers should be Yes and No. The SFI object should appear when the disclosee checks Yes.
Learn more about display rules.
If you have both progressive logic and a title for the SFI object in place on your form, then the disclosees at your institution will be able to use autofill on their disclosure.
There are four disclosures scenarios for the autofill feature:
- Prior Annual to a new Annual
- Prior Annual to a new RBD
- Prior RBD to a new RBD
- Prior RBD to a new Annual
