Detailed release notes
New and enhanced
We have added the following new functionality to platform-enabled instances of Fund Manager: Chartstring Security, Non-Sponsored Funds, and Projections
The new functionality can be accessed from the Fund Manager navigation bar tabs.
Chartstring Security (FM Global Administrators)
Platform-enabled customers now have access to Chartstring Security for Sponsored and Non-Sponsored funding restrictions. This replaces the previously used User Management > Fund Manager Limit-By Security.
- Users trying to view data without permissions will now see a pop-up indicating they have restricted access and to contact an FM Global Administrator.
- Using the new Chartstring Security functionality, FM Global Administrators can do the following:
- Search for users by Name and/or Personnel Identifier and select the specific restrictions from a single-select dropdown to add permissions.
- View or modify a user’s Chartstring Security settings.
- The following Role Permissions have been removed:
- Not Limit by Funds
- Not Limit by Organization Unit
- Not Limit by Cost Center
Non-Sponsored Funds (all users)
Platform-enabled customers now have access to Non-Sponsored Fund Detail, allowing users to separately view Non-Sponsored Funds from Sponsored Funds.
- Parent Fund Type field has been added to the Fund Type master table, located in Codes to distinguish between Non-Sponsored and Sponsored.
- At the time of this release to all environments, every fund type will be defaulted to a Sponsored Fund type. If you currently have Non-Sponsored Fund Types in your application, you can change the Parent Fund Type directly from the Fund Type master table.
- If you import using the Funds Template, you must add the new field in the template in order to modify the Fund Type. Please contact Rhonda Tilley, (Product Manager) at rhonda.tilley@cayuse.com to coordinate the timing and updating of the data load package connected to your SFTP.
- Using the new functionality, you can do the following:
- Review the status of Non-Sponsored Funds separately from Sponsored Funds.
- Non-Sponsored Funds provides a Beginning Balance at a selected point in time, and displays Revenue, Expenses to Date, Encumbrances, and a Remaining Balance in separate columns for each fund.
- View and apply table filters on variations of the Chartstring Security segments.
- View summary lines on the top-level row of a grouping and also drill-down capabilities to the specific transactions.
- Configure table column view.
Coming soon to Non-Sponsored Funds
- Export Transaction Detail view in Excel format
- View Accounting Period Date field in New Transaction Detail table
- Narrow search by date range and select by Transaction or Accounting Period Date
Projections (all users)
Platform-enabled customers have access to a new Projections feature workspace area to prepare & analyze what-if scenarios for Compensation and Non-Compensation Projections to assist researchers with budget planning & decision making.
Fund results in your specific Projection scenarios will be limited to funds you have been given access to view by your FM Global Administrator.
The following functionality is available in Projections:
Create Scenario
- Create multiple Projection Scenarios
- Filter & Select the Funds to analyze by Org Level(s), Principal Investigator(s), or list specific Funds individually.
- View real-time Fund Summary of all Balances.
- Create Projections for Compensation and Non-Compensation expenditures within a Scenario.
Project Compensation Expenditures
- Select projection dates.
- Populate annual salary and fringe amounts and allocate salary distribution among multiple funds and chartstring segments.
- Apply a salary cap dollar amount and provide chartstring segments to allocate the over-the-cap cost.
- Configure table column view.
Project Non-Compensation Expenditures
- Select projection dates.
- Populate a monthly amount to distribute to specific chartstring data elements.
- Configure table column view.
View Scenario Results
- Download the complete Scenario or individual Projections to an Excel file.
- The amounts calculated from the Scenario Projections will be applied to the funds summary table to reduce the balances available in those funds.
- Save all Scenarios for easy access.
- Edit and delete a Projection within a Scenario.
General enhancements and fixes (all users)
- Required field changes and updates
- The Pay Type field has been removed from the Personnel Records - Salary modal.
- The Parent Fund Type is now required in Fund Type.
- When creating a new Fund, Org Unit is now a required field. Since this field was not required for Funds created prior to this release, an Org Unit will need to be added if you are editing any fields inside an existing Fund Code.
- Updated navigation options for Fund Summary and Home
- The Fund Manager Home tab has been updated and is now called Fund Summary.
- To navigate to the Platform home/My Tasks page, click the Fund Manager logo in the top-left corner of the application or select Home in the Product selector drop-down menu.
- Data Import templates
- (New) Chartstring Security Template: This new template is now available for importing through your SFTP.
- (Revised) Fund Template: A required Parent Fund Type column has been added to the Fund template for both the Fund Manager and Effort Applications. The column must be populated with either Non-Sponsored or Sponsored.
- (Revised) Personal Title Template: Column E “Title_Description” has been added into the template. The header must be added to the script to display in the .csv file - however, the field is not required to be populated, it is an optional field. It provides the ability to populate an internal title description for an employee different from the title code and name associated.
- We have fixed a bug that was causing issues navigating from the Fund Manager application to the SP 4.0 application. You can now select SP 4.0 from the Products drop-down menu in the navigation header.
Known issues in this release (all users)
- Documentation for the new features in this release is incomplete at the time of release. Once complete, documentation will be accessible in the Fund Manager Help Center section.
- When selecting a Fund Type in the Sponsored Funds> Filter and Report>Fund tab, it is supposed to show a list of only Sponsored Fund Types. At this time, the drop-down list also includes Non-Sponsored Fund Types, but if selected, will not display results.
- Workaround: Do not select Non-Sponsored Fund Types while using this filter.
- Fix Timeframe: This bug is being currently investigated and the fix timeline is currently TBD.
- When selecting Non-Sponsored Funds, Projections, or Chartstring Security feature tabs from the navigation header, some tabs may disappear from view temporarily.
- Workaround: If you click on another feature tab, the missing tabs should reappear.
- Fix Timeframe: This bug is being currently investigated and the fix timeline is currently TBD.
- When selecting Non-Sponsored Funds, Projections, or Chartstring Security feature tabs from the navigation header, you may receive an unauthorized message page with a button indicating you can click on it to return back to the previous page. The button is not currently working.
- Workaround: Click on another feature tab in the navigation header to get off of the page displaying the error message.
- Fix Timeframe: This bug is being currently investigated and the fix timeline is currently TBD.
