Within Cayuse Grants, Effort, and Finance, there are fields for Flow-Thru Entities and Subcontractors. Subcontractors are other organizations where money goes to. Flow-Thru Entities are grant awarded organizations where grant money is funneled from.
Subcontractors
If your institution is the prime recipient of funding from a sponsor and you need to disperse funds to another agency, the agency receiving the funds would be the subcontractor.
Example: Cayuse University receives funds from the NIH and transfers some of those finds to a subcontractor, University of the Pacific Northwest.
Flow-Thru Entities
If your are receiving finding from an organization that is the recipient of the sponsor funding, the organization that is transfering funds to you is the flow-thru entity.
Example: Cayuse University is awarded a grant from a flow-thru entity, University of the Pacific Northwest. University of the Pacific Northwest received the funds from the NIH.
