In Cayuse SP, Central Admin Office staff who have either Preliminary Award or Award privileges can create an award. There are three different scenarios for creating an award:
- You want to create an award for a proposal that has been submitted and approved through Cayuse SP.
- You want to create an award for a proposal that has not been submitted and approved through Cayuse SP, or a proposal that has not yet been created within Cayuse SP.
- You want to copy an existing award for a different budget period.
Creating an Award for an Existing SP Proposal
- From your dashboard, browse for the proposal by clicking on the numbers by the Proposal categories, or search for the proposal using the provided Search box.
- When you've found your proposal, click on the proposal number.
- Click the Awards tab, and click Add Award.
- Click New Project to create a new project for the proposal and award, or Search Existing Projects to add the proposal and award to an existing project.
- Fill out your award information, and click Add Award. You will be brought to the Award Administration page, where you will see both the award and project number.
If you wish to edit the award after creating it, you will need to click Save Award after adjusting any fields.
Creating an Award Without a Connected Proposal
Please note: In order to create an award without a proposal, the award will still need to be attached to a project. Learn how to create a project here.
- From the first page of your dashboard, click on Project Dashboard beneath the Admin tab.
- Browse for the project by clicking on the numbers by the Project categories, or search for the project using the provided Search box.
- When you've found your project, click on the project number.
- Click the Awards tab. Select the Reporting Designation for the award (either Anticipated or Obligated), and click Add Award.
- On the Award Administration screen, fill out the award information. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required. Click .

- Would you like to copy this Proposal's budget to an award? (Cayuse SP Proposal Only): If you want to copy one Period of the Proposal's budget to the Award, select Copy one period and select the period you want to move over. Otherwise, select Don't copy the budget and enter the Award Amount.
- Admin Unit: This is the department that is in charge of manging the award.
- Award Begin and End Dates (Award Not Connected to a Proposal): These dates should reflect when the award is being used. This may be for the length of a budget period, the proposal, or the project.
- Award Status: Award statuses are configured by Cayuse Support. Contact support for more information.
- Reporting Designation: An Obligated designation is an award that is currently in possession. An Anticipated designation is an award you are expecting in the future.
- Award Notice Received: This is the date that you receive the email or letter of your official notice. This date may vary depending on your institution's policy.
