This article explains how metrics works and how to override metrics at the template and room level.
Instructions
Adding an Activity Metric:
More than one metric can exist for an activity. The system will always use the most specific metric when calculating the duration of an activity.
Adding a new metric:
-
Select the Activity Metrics tab.
-
In order to add new activity metric select Add Row link on the top left corner
-
Start typing the name of the activity in the Autocomplete Activity filed. The system will display the list of matching activities.
-
Enter other needed information then save.
Editing Metrics:
When editing Room Template Activities, Facility Activities, Area Activities, Room Activities, or Staff Activities, set Duration Type to Metric.
To override dictionary metrics:
- When editing Room Template Activities, Facility Activities, Area Activities, Room Activities, or Staff Activities, set Duration Type to Activity Default.
- Fill in Duration, Unit, and Per fields that now show to set custom metrics for this one instance of the activity. Tip: “Per” usually set by default.
How Dictionary Metrics Work
When Duration Type equals Metric, the system will grab the metric for the activity from the Dictionaries. This can be viewed from either Activities page > Metrics tab (view activity by activity) or Activity Metrics page (view all metrics in one place).
Cage and Rack Type Activities
Cage and Rack Type activities can have more than 1 metric since they can be specified for different combinations of Species, Cage Types, and Rack Types. The system will always grab the one with the most additional parameters first that match the racks in the room. If it does not find a matching metric then it will grab the one from the room.
- Applies to: Mouse only, Basic Cage Type only, ATM-160 Rack Type only.
- Applies to: Rat only, Any Cage Type, Any Rack Type.
