In order to meet institutional needs, SP System Administrators can now customize research team roles by renaming, reordering, and activating/inactivating them.
How to Configure Team Roles
- From the Sponsored Projects homepage, select More and then select Manage Research Team Roles.
- From the Manage Research Team Roles page, select the Edit button. The following default roles are available on this page with the ability to rename, reorder, activate/inactivate (except as noted), as well as add new roles:
- Principal Investigator (this role can be renamed, but cannot be reordered or inactivated)
- Co-Principal Investigator
- Investigator
- Co-Investigator
- Fellow
- Post-Doctoral Research Assistant
- Graduate Research Assistant
- Undergraduate Research Assistant
- Coordinator
- Mentor
- Other Participant
- In Edit mode, you can:
- Rename any role by editing the text in the Research Team Role name field (up to 100 characters).
- Reorder roles (except Principal Investigator) by dragging the six dots next to the role name to the desired position.
- Inactivate or reactivate roles (except Principal Investigator) using the Active Status slider.
- Create a new role by selecting the Add new role button.
- Please note: Duplicate Research Team Role Names are not allowed
- Be sure to Save all changes.
Post-Edit Updates in Records
After editing the roles, changes will be reflected on existing records in:
- The Research Team Object that have members assigned to the updated research team role(s) (e.g., will show new names in selected order)
- The Research Team Object will continue to display all previously selected roles even if those roles are inactivated now
- The Research Team Role column in the dashboard/in-app reports/CSV files that have members assigned to the updated research team role(s)
General Post-Edit Updates
After editing the roles, changes will be reflected in:
- The Research Team Object role drop down menu (e.g., will show new names in selected order for active roles)
- The Rule Builder when the Research Team Object is selected
- Simplified Form Builder and Advanced Form Builder display/ignore rules when the Research Team Object is selected
