Overview
An optional, direct integration with ORCID is available and enables users to link their Cayuse and ORCID profiles together, adding a verified ORCID ID to their Cayuse profile. This integration has no additional cost from Cayuse and is included as part of the standard Platform functionality.
ORCID Account Setup section

As part of this integration, customers will need to have an ORCID membership for their organization. The following ORCID pages may be helpful in learning more:
- ORCID recommends double checking their Member List first, as many institutions are already ORCID members (often managed by their university library).
- Most non-profit institutions would be eligible to access ORCID services via one of their consortia (in the US for example, most universities join through Lyrasis's ORCID consortium), which offer Premium membership at a more cost-effective rate for eligible institutions. ORCID have consortia operating in 27 countries around the world (including every G7 country).
Initial Setup
Before utilizing this integration, the following steps will need to be taken by your institution:
- Ensure an account is setup and active between your institution and ORCID.
- Each member would request ORCID Member API credentials by filling out this webform: https://info.orcid.
org/register-a-client- application-production-member- api/ (remember to mention in the 'Notes for ORCID staff' section that you plan to use the Cayuse system) - Once you have completed the ORCID integration review, you will be provided with the necessary credentials (ORCID ID and ORCID Client Secret) to connect to your ORCID Production environment.

Configure the integration in Admin Module (must have RS Admin role).
- From Admin Module, go to More > Configurations > Orcid ID.
- Enter ORCID Client ID and ORCID Client Secret (for privacy, Secret will disappear once saved).
- Click Save.
Once activated, all researchers at your institution can connect their ORCID accounts to Cayuse
Connecting ORCID and Cayuse Profiles
After the integration setup is complete for your institution, researchers can follow the steps below to connect their ORCID ID in Cayuse.
- Login to your Cayuse application. Select the dropdown menu next to your name in the right-hand corner. Select My Profile.
- Scroll down to the External Identifiers section. Select Connect your ORCID ID.
- You will be re-routed to the ORCID website. Follow instructions to connect your ORCID ID and Authorize access for use in Cayuse.
- Once authorization is given, you will be redirected back to Cayuse with your ORCID ID populated.
Removing (Revoking) Access between ORCID and Cayuse Profiles
If you wish to remove your ORCID ID from Cayuse, select the Revoke ORCID ID button. You may reconnect the ORCID ID at any time by following the steps above.
