This article covers common errors when creating, editing, or submitting proposals in Proposals (S2S).
Many of these issues originate with how an opportunity was posted on Grants.gov rather than with Cayuse itself. Identifying the cause can help you choose the right next step: Wait, work around it, or contact Cayuse Support.
Use this guide to identify the issue and decide on next steps.
Quick Reference Guide
| Issue | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Not supported” on download | Duplicate mandatory forms | Contact Support; use Workspace if needed |
| “This form is not available yet” | Form not fully published | Wait 24–48 hours; verify GPID |
| Cannot upload attachments (OPI form) | Corrupted form state | Copy proposal and continue |
| PDF fails on print preview | Study title too long | Shorten title |
| Save prompt with no edits | Known UI issue | Save and continue |
Issue 1: “Not supported” when downloading opportunity
What you’ll see
You can’t create or open the proposal after downloading the opportunity.
Why this happens
The opportunity includes duplicate mandatory forms (for example, two copies of the same form).
Cayuse only supports one instance of each mandatory form.
This is a Grants.gov issue, not a Cayuse bug.
What to do
- Confirm the issue by downloading the opportunity again
- Check the opportunity in Grants.gov for duplicate forms
- Contact Cayuse Support with:
- Opportunity number
- Name of the duplicated form
- If needed, submit via Grants.gov Workspace
- Monitor for a corrected repost
Please note: This must be fixed by the agency.
Issue 2: “This form is not available yet”
What you’ll see
A form appears but cannot be filled out.
Why this happens
- The form hasn’t been fully published yet
- Or Cayuse hasn’t received the form version
- Or the opportunity was downloaded too early
What to do
- Note the GPID
- Wait 24–48 hours and try again
- If still blocked:
- Contact Cayuse Support with GPID, opportunity number, and form name
Do not re-download the opportunity unless Cayuse Support tells you to.
Issue 3: Cannot upload attachments (Other Project Info form)
What you’ll see
Uploads fail with a generic error.
Why this happens
The form’s XML structure is corrupted.
Deleting attachments can make this worse.
Important
Do not delete attachments to troubleshoot.
What to do
- Stop making changes
- Copy the proposal
- Test uploads in the copy
- Continue working from the copy
- Contact Cayuse Support with:
- Proposal ID
- Affected attachment points
Issue 4: PDF fails on print preview
What you’ll see
Print Preview fails and no PDF is generated.
Why this happens
The Study title linked to the HSCTI form is too long.
What to do
- Locate the linked Study record
- Shorten the title:
- Target: under 80 characters
- Retry Print Preview
If it still fails, contact Cayuse Support.
Tip: Put longer titles in the description field instead.
Issue 5: Save prompt appears with no changes
What you’ll see
You’re prompted to save immediately after opening the proposal.
Why this happens
A known issue where the system detects a change that isn’t visible.
What to do
- Save the proposal
- Navigate away and return if needed
- If it continues:
- Copy the proposal
- Work from the copy
Note: Saving does not change your data.
