The Executive Dashboard provides a high-level, strategic overview of your institution's research funding portfolio. Integrated directly into the Cayuse platform, it uses data from your Cayuse Sponsored Projects 4.0 application to help leadership visualize trends, track performance, and make data-driven decisions.
The dashboard is designed to help answer questions such as:
How are proposal submissions and funding trending over time?
Which sponsors and internal units drive the most activity?
What is our recent proposal success rate, and how is it changing?
How does funding break down by sponsor or activity type?
Accessing the Executive Dashboard
After implementation by the Cayuse Professional Services team, access is straightforward:
Log in to the Cayuse platform.
Open the product switcher in the main header.
Select Insights. This opens the Insights workspace containing all dashboards available to you.
If you do not see Insights or the Executive Dashboard, contact your internal system administrator or Cayuse Support.
Navigating the Dashboard
Main Views
Use the buttons at the top of the page to switch between the three primary views:
Proposals
Awards
Success
Visuals and Data Tabs
Below the main view buttons, you can switch between two tabs:
Visuals (default): Displays charts, KPIs, and summary graphics.
Data: Displays the underlying data in a table that can be exported.
Date Filter
Each view includes a date filter at the top of the page. The default setting is Year-to-Date.
Proposals view uses the Submission Date
Awards view uses the Start Date
You can adjust the date range to analyze different time periods.
Data Refresh
Insights data refreshes every 24 hours. All dashboard visuals and tables reflect this refresh schedule.

Proposals
The Proposals page focuses on pre-award activity. Charts display proposal counts by default, with the option to toggle to proposal costs.
Available insights include:
Trends Over Time (monthly, by submission date)
Status Breakdown (donut chart by status)
Sponsor, Unit, and Sponsor Type Rankings
Top 10 results shown by default
Select Full Results to view expanded rankings
Awards
The Awards page highlights post-award activity. Visuals can be toggled between award counts and award costs.
Available insights include:
Trends Over Time (monthly, by award start date)
Activity Type Breakdown (donut chart by activity type)
Sponsor Type Breakdown (donut chart by sponsor type)
Success
The Success page summarizes recent award success. It analyzes proposals submitted between two months and two years ago to provide a stable view of performance.
Available insights include:
Success by Month
Toggle between Success Rate (%) and Number of Wins
Funding Type Breakdown
Always based on Number of Wins
Data Security
The Insights platform uses role-based access control to protect your data. Users can only view data associated with their institution, ensuring secure and appropriate access at all times.
