This article explains how to set up Units in Resource Scheduling. Units are only used in Resource Scheduling.
Overview
Units are the highest level of organization in Resource Scheduling. Schedulers, staff, facilities, and areas must be added to a unit.
Determining how many units are needed
Please Note: Most institutions may only need to have 1 unit, but at least 1 is still required.
Consider the following when deciding on whether to set up more than 1 unit:
- Having more than 1 unit is entirely optional so only add more if it reflects the real-life organizational structure.
- Staff can only be listed under ONE unit. They will have to be “borrowed” on a day to day basis if they are needed in a different unit.
- Assigned (aka primary, secondary) staff in rooms can only come from the room’s unit.
- Facilities and areas can only be listed under ONE unit.
- Assigned staff for facilities and areas can only come from the facility’s or area’s unit.
Tip: Units may also be used to represent things like different campuses, e.g. Campus A and Campus B.
Instructions
- Add unit on Schedule Setup > Units.
- Once the unit is added, assign Schedulers, Staff, Facilities, and Areas under the unit.
- Ensure that every facility and area that will be scheduled in the system is assigned to a unit.
