Follow these instructions to set up Employee Groups in the Department Manager Personnel Module.
Among the uses of these data is the Employees Supported section of Faculty Profile reports. In this example, we are setting up an Employee Group for each PI and assigning the employees to an Employee Group.
From the Personnel module, File menu, follow these steps to set up Employee Groups.
- Click File/Codes/User Definable Groups/Employee Groups. The Employee Group Code Maintenance screen appears (Initially, your screen will be blank).
- Click the Insert button on the toolbar. (You will use the Edit button when you simply need to make changes to a Group.)
- Enter appropriate profile data (Code, Description, Employment Status, and Employee ID) for each Employee Group. The last two fields have drop-down menus. When you set up a group for a Principal Investigator (PI), ensure that you include the PI's Employee ID here. You may wish to copy or save the relevant IDs for easy reference in later steps.
- Click the Close button to exit this screen.
- Navigate to File/Staff from the Personnel Module's main menu. The Staff data entry screen appears.
- Click the Demographic tab.
- Pull up the profile for the desired Employee(s). (Navigate via the arrow buttons in the toolbar.)
- From the Employee Group drop-down menu near the middle of the screen, select the appropriate Group.
- Click OK.
- Complete Employee Group assignments as needed for all Employees. These data are now available to populate reports such as the Faculty Profile Report.
