Once your users are populated within Human Ethics, you can begin assigning individuals roles.
Assigning Roles
- In the menu, click on More, and then click on Admin.
- In the left-hand menu, click on the role you wish to assign to a user.
- Click .
- Search for the user by their first or last name into the provided field. Click on their name.

You will now see the user listed within the role.
- Roles are applied at the Log In time. So an active user must Log Out and Log In again for the changes in Roles to take effect.
Role Definitions
- Admin: Overall System Administrator who has access to all areas of the product.
- IRB Admin: Administrator for Cayuse IRB. Can access the Settings menu, which contains the Institutional Review Boards, Submission/Checklist/Letter Templates, Organizational Approvers, and Application Settings screens. Can view all studies and submissions.
- IRB Analyst: User who works in the Compliance Office and is responsible for processing submissions. Can view, comment on, and process all studies in the system. They can also schedule IRB meetings on the calendar, and have the ability to modify submission and letter templates under the Settings menu.
- IRB User: User who is a researcher, principal investigator, or research assistant who will be entering data or sending submissions to the Compliance Office. Each user can only view the studies they have created, or ones currently assigned to them. An IRB user designated as the PI for a particular submission has the ability to certify that submission, signifying it is ready for an IRB Analyst to review.
