The SP 4.0 Budget Builder creates a simplified budgeting experience by allowing all Cayuse users at an organization to use the same organization-approved categories and line items, and F&A rates.
Please note: Your SP System Administrator must submit a Cayuse Support ticket requesting to have Budget Builder enabled at your organization.
Understanding the Budget Builder
The Budget Builder consists of three key components:
- Budget Settings: Settings that must be configured by a Cayuse SP System Administrator prior to users accessing the Budget Builder tool.
- Budget Summary Form Object: A Proposal or Award form object that must be added to a form template by a Cayuse SP System Administrator prior to users accessing the Budget Builder tool. Once added, the object will appear in Proposal or Award forms when submissions are created.
- Budget Builder: A tool used to edit and add budget information to a Proposal or Award form submission. The Budget Builder tool can be accessed by anyone who can view the Proposal or Award record.

- Indirect Cost Rate
- Salary and Fringe Rates
- Apply organization-wide financial policies to budgets
Budget Builder Tool Overview
- Name of associated Project title
- Associated Proposal or Award number
- Budget tabs:
- Overview: Displays a budget summary overview with values broken down by period and category/line item.
- Sponsor Costs: Add values for all Sponsor Costs budget line items.
- Cost Share: Add internal and external cost share line items.
- Versions: This feature is coming soon and not accessible at this time.
- Setup: Define the budget periods and F&A rate information.
- Summary of budget information by line item type.
