This guide is for researchers completing Animal Oversight and Hazard Safety forms in the Cayuse system. The Animal Oversight application allows researchers to view and add biohazardous agents to Animal Oversight protocols. This integration enhances the researcher experience, by integrating forms from the Animal Oversight and Hazard Safety applications. For privacy and security reasons, the integration only displays information between Animal Oversight and Hazard Safety protocols with the same PI. During the review process, compliance committees can easily cross‐reference shared agents and information.
Steps
As previously mentioned, the integration only displays information between Animal Oversight and Hazard Safety protocols with the same PI.
Please note: The wording in your institution‐specific forms may differ from the screenshots below.
In the Animal Oversight application on the Options page, researchers will indicate that biohazardous agents will be used within a species group.
Within that species group, the IBC (Biohazardous) Agents page will be displayed in the Table of Contents. When selected, the page will display a table for researchers to add, edit, and delete agent records.
Clicking Add Agent will display a list of agents available for selection. The page will only display applicable agents from Hazard Safety protocols registered in the same name as the Animal Oversight protocol. Agents in the Hazard Safety protocols must be flagged for use in animals to display here. The Hazard Safety protocol number and status display here for reference. After agents are added, they can be edited to answer Animal Oversight‐specific questions.
After agents are added, they can be edited to answer Animal Oversight‐specific questions.
Researchers and reviewers can select the agent and click Preview IBC Protocol to view a PDF of the Hazard Safety protocol. This functionality offers users the ability to easily cross‐reference details between the Hazard Safety and Animal Oversight protocols.
