Before You Begin
You will need a User ID and password to complete account login. The first time you log in, you will use the appropriate administrative login; you will be able to change your password later if you have appropriate permissions.
IF your system administrator... | THEN you will... |
has set up an ID and password for you | enter the credentials provided. |
has not set up an ID and password for you | ask your system administrator to provide you with login information. |
Note: We recommend that the system administrator set up the system so that your Windows user name will default as your User ID, so that you do not have to type it in each time you log in.
The User ID and Password are not case-sensitive.
Logging In to the Software
Once the software has been installed on your computer, you should see a shortcut on your desktop, similar to this icon:
- Double click on this icon to open the System Login page.
*This software was developed by IT Works, and is now part of the Cayuse Research Suite. - Enter your User ID and Password in the appropriate fields.
- Click Log In to start the software. The Login screen disappears and the Department Manager System icon will appear in your system tray (typically the lower right corner of your display, depending on your settings).
Note: If you get an error message, reenter your User ID and Password and try to log in again. If you continue to get errors, contact your system administrator for the appropriate login credentials. - Click on the Department Manager icon from the system tray to display available menu options. Options to which you do not have access appear "grayed out."
From here, you can select the desired module or function. To learn more, see the Getting Started articles for each module. You can run more than one module at a time, and each will display an icon on your desktop while it is active.
Logging Out of the Software
If you have any Department Manager modules open, it may take a few steps to log out completely. It's essential to understand when you are truly logged out in case of tasks such as Archiving, when all users must be fully logged out of the system.
IF you are... | THEN... |
not logged in to any of the Department Manager modules, but the Department Manager icon is still visible in your system tray | select Exit from the Department Manager menu within the system tray to log out. |
logged in to any Department Manager modules | follow the next steps to complete logout. |
- Verify how many instances of Department Manager you have running--you can run more than one module at a time.
- Click the Close button or
or
icon to exit any open screen within a module. Depending on the module and task you are performing, the Close buttons may appear slightly different.
- Click File/Exit from within each open module.
- Click Exit from the Department Manager menu in the system tray. All Department Manager icons should have disappeared (except for the program shortcut).
