Following are descriptions of shortcut key commands that can help all users navigate more easily throughout Department Manager.
To use a key command, simply hold down the CTRL key and type the designated character to perform the desired function.

CTRL + Z | activates the search function within the field where it is placed |
CTRL + N | moves to the next record that meets the search criteria of a search function |
CTRL + B | moves to the previous record that meets the search criteria of a search function |
CTRL + C | copies a field within a record |
CTRL + V | pastes copied data within a selected field |
CTRL + D | creates a duplicated row of data, which you can then edit; this function is quite useful for Transaction and Budget screens |
Understanding Key Command Functions
Available key commands can help ease the tasks of searching fields, copying/pasting fields within records, and duplicating rows of data.
Search Function (CTRL + Z)
- Place your cursor in a field you would like to search.
- Activate the Search function using CTRL + Z. A Search dialog box appears.
IF you want to search for an exact match by character and upper or lower case, click the Exact Match Option. - Type in the desired search term and click Find.
IF you want to perform a wildcard search, you can add an asterisk (*) before or after the search term to substitute for zero or more characters.
Example: As shown in the following example, wildcards placed both before and after “Test” would return results such as “TSH Test” and “Testing”.
Navigation Functions (CTRL + N and CTRL + B)
- Navigate forward or backward through records meeting your search criteria by using CTRL + N (Next) or CTRL + B (Back), respectively.
Copy (CTRL + C) and Paste (CTRL + V) Functions
- Copy a field within a record by highlighting the information you want to copy and use CTRL + C to activate the Copy function.
- Place your cursor where you would like to paste the copied field and use CTRL + V to activate the Paste function. The copied text will appear in the new field.
Duplication Function for Copying Rows (CTRL + D)
The Duplication function is quite useful for Transaction and Budget screens. It permits you to duplicate and revise entire rows of data.
- Highlight the row of data that you would like to copy.
- Use CTRL + D to create a duplicate row of data.
- Edit the copied row of data to meet your requirements.
